Sometimes in life, you have to take risks. It’s easy to get comfortable in habits and stay in a secure place. In fact, it’s completely normal. But in order to excel, it’s important to venture outside of your comfort zone and see what life has to offer. It can be scary, unsettling, and nerve-wrecking. I mean, you’re going into a place of uncertainty. But in times like those, you gotta remind yourself to have faith. And when you’re confident, it can become a great thing. No matter how eventful my life is, I often remind myself to stay grounded. Life is full of ups and downs and twists and turns. What I’ve learned is that no matter what I’m going through (no matter how bad), there’s something good right around the corner waiting to happen. I know it’s hard to consider that when you’re caught in the moment, but trust me…the best is yet to come.

What is up my peoples! Welcome one and all to the July 2014 Opinions Column aka my birthday month! Excuse me while I get hype!!!!!!! Haha, I always get excited in July since it’s my birthday month. It’s especially exciting this month since I’ve made great strides in the last year. For those that’re new to the site, this is the place where you can deep within the microcosms of my brain to find out what’s up with me. For those returning, you know the drills! 2013…what a year it’s been. From twerking with Miley Cyrus to having a royal baby, it’s been krazy, hasn’t it? We saw some very controversial trials this year including George Zimmerman and Jodi Arias, while we also saw high profile celebs get caught in the news including Aaron Hernandez and Paula Deen. We saw a young girl become a rising voice, a U.S. government shutdown, and the loss of a significant world leader. 2013 was nothing short of eventful.

As I write this, the only thing I’m wondering is…has it really been a year? Because it’s seriously flown by. LoL I guess it has. Every year (and instead of just revisiting the news), I take a glimpse back at where I’ve been and more specifically the highlights of my year. As usual, it was a rollercoaster year with lots of highs and lows. I had some eye opening moments, realizations, and experiences that really changed my outlook on life. Both personally and professionally, I went through a lot. But I mean, that’s normal, right? ‘Course it is LoL. And with that, here it is…MY 2013 Year in Review.
