2021…what a year you’ve been. While 2020 was the rollercoaster year where COVID changed our lives, 2021 felt like the year where we began adjusting to a new reality. People were divided, emotions ran high, and there’s still a lot of uncertainty as we go into the new year. If anything, this year felt like a transition year as we try to find our footing. Oh yeah, did I mention that vaccines rolled out this year too?

This year was shaped by many things. From the loss of DMX and Biz Markie, to the rise of Squid Game and Meta, 2021 had its share of big moments. We had a war end, inflation rise, and natural disasters rock the U.S. It was also the year where things began to “open up” again, only for us to go into another uncertain time. I feel exhausted just thinking about it.

There was a lot that made 2021 the year that it was. For me, there were also many things that characterized the year. As I do every year around this time, I want to revisit my year and talk about all that happened. From highlights, to fav things, to 2022 expectations, there’s a lot to cover. So sit back, relax, and let’s get into it. Here is my 2021 year in review!

2020, oh 2020, what a year. Where do I begin to describe this rollercoaster? It really goes without saying, but 2020 was a year unlike any other. I mean, I know we can say that all the time, but this was entirely different. It seemed like every month, there was something else krazy happening, and it was huge. Whether it was the pandemic, the people we lost, or the protests that captured the world, we’ve never seen anything like it. Honestly, it seemed like things would never let up.

In addition, we also experienced an election year. It captivated us, it moved us, and it divided us. It seems like everyone had election fever, as there was a record turnout in the U.S. for voting. But even with the people making their voices heard, there still continues to be unresolved issues. And I mean, what a time for it to be an election year, right? We faced COVID, which shut down the world and changed everything. As the vaccine slowly starts to get distributed, there’s one thing I can tell you…2020 will be one for the history books.

While I could spend all day talking about the events that made up 2020, I won’t. Instead, as I do every time around this year, I want to revisit my year and talk about what characterized it. From highlights, to favorite things, to expectations for the new year, there’s a lot on my mind to share. So sit back, relax, and vibe out with me as I talk about my year in 2020!

2018, oh 2018, what a year you have been. Between headlines about the Royal Wedding, the World Cup, and everything Trump, it’s been a busy year. The Eagles finally won the Super Bowl, Democrats took back the House, and Thanos wiped out half the population. Zuckerberg went to Washington, a selfie was taken on Mars, and sadly, we all witnessed the tragedy in Parkland, FL. It’s crazy how much happened this past year.

While it’s been a year of big events, I also want to talk about the year that I experienced. Every year around this time, I take a moment and reflect back. Whether it’s the rap life or personal life, I’ve always thought it’s important to appreciate where we’ve come. And of course, it’s also healthy to look at how much we’ve accomplished together. And from what I can recall, there’s been a lot.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy this. Here is my 2018 year in review!

2017, what a year you’ve been. It seems like just yesterday we were starting the year, and now here we are winding down. It’s definitely been one for the history books, hasn’t it? From an unpredictable president to a royal wedding announcement to the biggest Super Bowl comeback in history, there were many things that defined the year. We witnessed KD get a ring, Episode 8 finally release, and an Avengers trailer that broke all sorts of records. A new iPhone released, Disney bought Fox, and there was a revolving door at the White House. And on a sadder note, we saw the tragedy in Las Vegas. It’s been an absolutely unreal year.

While I just spent that intro discussing this year’s defining moments, I’d also like to talk about the year that I had. Every year at around this time, I take a moment and reflect back. Whether the rap life or personal life, I’ve always thought it’s important to appreciate where you’ve come. And of course, it’s also good to look back at how much we’ve accomplished together. And from what I can remember, it’s been a lot.

So here it is. My 2017 year in review. In the words of Kanye, “like we always do at this time…”

Oh 2016, what a year you’ve been. This has been a year like no other and that’s putting it lightly. From the election of 2016 to Brexit, the world changed in monumental ways. We saw Lebron bring a championship to Cleveland while Kobe retired, the Cubs finally won, and Rio hosted the Olympics. There was Pokemon GO, exploding Samsung phones, and the breakup of Brad & Angelina. And sadly, the worst U.S. mass shooting occured in my own hometown, Orlando, at the Pulse nightclub. It will be a year to remember.

Many people are ready to move on from 2016. From an election that tore us apart, Americans are still healing. I was pretty vocal myself as I saw people become so polarized during election season. There were a number of terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and shootings throughout the world. And we lost some incredible people this year, from Prince to Carrie Fisher to John Glenn (and that’s just scratching the surface). It’s been unreal.

It hasn’t been all bad though. In the face of terror, people came together. I saw the largest outpouring of love in the face of the Pulse shooting. The economy improved, a woman ran for president, and the Paris climate agreement hopes to improve (and protect) the environment. And yes, we got Rogue One and Stranger Things in the same year.

On a personal level, it’s been a memorable year for me as well. So as I do everyyy year, I will revisit it and touch on the highlights that I’ve experienced. This should be a good one too. So here goes…presenting to you MY 2016 year in review.
