“I just landed in Rome!”
– Jay-Z on “FuckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt“
As I’ve mentioned many times in the past, traveling does something to me. I don’t know if it’s the sights, the people, or just the being away from home, but traveling really changes your perspective. It makes you think differently and opens your eyes to things you never even thought about. After a month in Europe, it’s really starting to hit me…and it’s really giving me a worldly perspective.
Whatuppppppppppppppp peopleeeeeeeeeee???????? What’s poppin? Welcome one and welcome all to the October 2014 Opinions Column! This is the sole spot where I talk all the trash I wanna lol. For those that’re new to the site, brace yourselves cuz it’s about to get real. Haha nah, I usually just talk about my life (but you never know). But yes, welcome! And for those that’re returning, thank you and welcome back!!! And now that we’re all acquainted, let’s talk about my month that was Europe.
As I write this, I’m still in Switzerland. Yup, I’ve been here for about a month now where I’ve been visiting and seeing all sorts of things. In case you missed it, I recently released a new freestyle video in Zurich. In case you haven’t already, check it out below. It shows you some of the places I’ve been so far…
While I’ve been bouncing around Switzerland, I also had an opportunity to travel to Rome, Italy! Whaaaaaat! Yup, I went to Rome where I saw some pretty amazing things. Between the Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica (among others of course), I saw some incredible sights. When I was in college, I took some art history classes so seeing what I read about was quite an experience. Some of the statues were incredibly huge. I saw actual paintings by the man himself Leondoard da Vinci and I also saw sculptures created by Michelangelo too. It was surreal to me to see some of these things because damn you know how long that stuff has been there for? It’s crazy that these things have stood the test of time. It’s even krazier that artists were able to create these things without the technology of today. All in all, it was an incredible experience and I’m really glad I went. Shoot, I even went to the Colloseum!
While I’m out here in Zurich, I’m really starting to appreciate life back home too. While it’s great to be in another country, I’m reminded of just how American I am. I miss the people, the food, and the things I’m used to. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I’m loving the time out here…I just miss America too.
So what lies ahead? Well unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to go to Munich for Oktoberfest (erghhh, long story) but I’m thinking about traveling to Germany anyway just because. I’m also planning a trip to France, Spain, and the UK. In addition, I was thinking of hitting the Swiss Alps again, only this time much higher and MUCH colder. Not a good look when you’re from Florida, I’m just saying lol.
Anyway, gotta keep this one short and sweet cuz I gotta run! Check out some pics from my recent travels below.
And with that, I’m outta here. Til next time, stay up, stay safe, and hold ya head! PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
