“Something’s gotta change
Sounds of laughter and happiness turn my teardrops to rain
Been bearing this burden for too many of my days
Looks like breezes of Autumn done finally blew my way
Like memories of yesterday”
– Outkast on “13th Floor/Growing Old“
We all experience rites of passage in our life. Whether it’s birth, getting your drivers license, or graduating, there are certain moments that serve as transitions. It’s a surreal feeling because on one hand you’re letting go of your past, while on the other you’re embracing an unknown future. It’s essentially growing up, but in a more single-moment, grandiose kind of way. It’s a moment where we say goodbye to yesterday because there’s something new to embrace.
What’s up my peoples? Welcome one and all to the Ajaxxx.com Opinions Column. This is the sole spot on planet earth (shoot, the whole galaxy) where you can get deep within my brain to find out what’s going on. For those returning to the site, THANK YOU! Welcome back! And for those that’re new to the site, this is where you’ll find me talking about anything and everything that’s on my mind. I usually do this once a month, and here it is for June. We’re surrounded by some rites of passage and I thought I’d spend a bit of time on the topic here.
