Happy New Year everyone! It’s a new year and it’s time for a refreshed outlook. So for 2016, the theme is optimism.
What’s up my people? Welcome to the first post of 2016! For those that are new to the site, this is the page where you can read all about what’s going on in my head. For those that are returning, y’all already know the drills! It’s an exciting time in life so let’s jump right into it.
So yes, optimism. I titled the Opinions Column that for a number of reasons. Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, it’s a powerful thing. The more positive energy you emit, the more positive things you’ll attract. I’m living proof of that. For the last few years, I’ve really changed my thinking and it’s affected me in lots of great ways. Additionally, the theme of 2016 is optimism because of all the challenges we’re gonna face. It’s so easy to let doubt, grief, stress, frustration, and drama weigh you down. Trust me, I’m also living proof of this. However, the more optimistic you are, the smaller those issues become. Is it easy? Absolutely not. Is it doable though? Yes, yes it is. So let’s switch the mindset to optimism (or continue) for 2016.
So what are those frustrating moments you speak of, Jaxxx? Well, let’s start at the top. I’m currently in the middle of planning a wedding and it’s a ton of work. More than that though, there are so many decisions that weigh heavily on me. Did I make the right decision? Am I doing this correctly? Should I even consider that? The overthinking really stresses me out, and often brings me down. However, I need to keep reminding myself that everything I’m doing is to the best of my ability and that it’ll all turn out ok in the end. It’s more of an internal struggle than anything, but I know I gotta stay optimistic. It’s not easy but it’s very important.
Elsewhere in my life, I’m really determined to get my recording situation going again for 2016. I hardly recorded last year, with me moving again and also technical issues with my setup. Anyway, I’m going to change that all year and get back on the mic. Now, it’s easy to get discouraged when I didn’t do enough last year when I said I would. Instead of getting down though, I’m optimistic I’ll turn things around in the 2-0-1-6. In fact, I’ve already got the ball rolling and that’s a good thing. So yes ladies and gentlemen, expect to hear new music from Ajaxxx this year. And trust me, I’m excited.
Perhaps my examples aren’t as krazy as yours, and that’s okay. Or maybe they are. We’re all facing different, unique challenges. And like I said, it’s hard. Life is good at throwing us curve balls and steering us off course. But the parallels exist. Whenever those things happen, you can either do two things: succumb to it or overcome it. I’ma choose the latter. I guess the only way to do that then, is to embrace optimism. It’s something that takes time to embrace but if you can move in that direction, it will have a positive affect on you. Trust me on that.
