It’s been an exhausting time in my life. From getting less sleep to juggling 500 things all at once, it seems like time comes at a premium nowadays. I guess that’s the trade off when you’re chasing your dreams.
Before we dig deeper though, whatup world! Welcome to the December 2016 Opinions Column (holy crap, is it December already?). This is the place where I share what’s going on, along with anything on my mind. You’ve caught me at a really interesting time in my life so here goes.
So yes, just why am I so exhausted? Well, I’ve been working on the edit for my video “Broken Dreams” and we’re on the brink of releasing it. This feels similar to the time I was working on my last video, which I wrote about this in the March 2014 Opinions Column. At the time of writing this, it’s like 99% done. I’ve been spending so much time working on it, from edits to re-edits to re-re-edits (if that’s a thing). In the process, I’ve also had to learn a lot of new things. Between that and de-prioritizing other things in my life, it’s been rough. But the good news is we’re almost there.
On the real though, I’m grateful that I’m here. I think about writing this song back in my bedroom years ago. I recall collaborating with Oddeo on the chorus and having multiple recording sessions with different singers. And I remember reaching out to Skillz, the producer, even before all of that and how we talked about the beat. It’s been a JOURNEY but we’re here. And after a multiple-day shoot, “Broken Dreams” the music video will finally be a real thing.
That’s really the main thing on my mind right now. Of course there are other things…the holidays, 2016, what the future holds, etc. But I’ll talk about that more in the Year-in-Review that I always write. For now, let me embrace the moment…
