“I’m oblivious to you skeptics
What you hear you ain’t ever hear ’til I repped it”
– Nas on “No Bad Energy“
You often hear people talk about how you gotta prove the haters wrong. “Don’t listen to them,” they say. “You got this.” I definitely agree with this. Don’t pay too much mind to those that aren’t doing it – they don’t know your struggle. In fact, if you gotta phase them out to keep moving, then do it. But instead of entertaining the haters, I’ve been thinking – what about your supporters?
What’s up y’all? Welcome to the July 2019 Ajaxxx.com Opinions Column. Yes, yes, I know…this post is ridiculously late. I actually started this a few weeks ago and never got around to finishing it. I gotta balance everything better lol. Anyway, for those that are new to the site, this is where I talk about what’s on my mind. For those returning, welcome back! With that saiddd, let’s talk about proving them right.
So yeah, I’ve been doing some thinking about how to maintain the motivation and keep pushing forward. In fact, I’ve even wrote about this before. One of the things I’ve heard before is how you gotta prove the naysayers wrong. Now, what if you take the same approach, and prove your supporters RIGHT? What a concept.
Think about those in your life that have had your back and helped you in your journey. From friends to family, there must be people that have tried to help you and get you to where you wanna go. Now, how amazing would it be to prove those people right and show them, “hey, you know all the time you’ve spent on me? It was worth it.” I feel like going about it like that makes a big difference and motivates you to push forward.
I’m thinking about myself now. From the producers that gave me beats cuz they liked my style, to the friends that have helped me record, to the family members that have shared my music…all of them believed in me. They heard something, or saw something, that was impressive and wanted great things to happen. I mean, wow, that’s amazing. So don’t I owe it to them to at least try harder? Shouldn’t I put in the extra effort to make something happen? I mean, I don’t HAVE to do anything, but I feel like I should. I WANT to prove them right.
I feel like once you start thinking about it differently and in this way, amazing things can happen. Instead of focusing on those who doubt, you can also focus on those who are behind you. That’s incredibly powerful and moving. Use them as sources of inspiration and work harder. You got this.
Those are my quick thoughts on the subject. Hope this helps you like it helps me.
Until next time, folks. Stay up, stay safe, and hold ya head. Ajaxxx signing out, PEACEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
