“Diamonds are forever like my infinite thought”
– Guru on Gang Starr’s “Family & Loyalty“
It’s often easy to get down about things, especially when life isn’t going your way. Whether it’s your career, relationships, or whatever else, sometimes we experience “slumps” and need to pick ourselves up outta them. So just how do we do it? Perhaps we take on an activity we enjoy, spend time with friends, or read a book. Or, perhaps there’s another way…maybe it’s by rethinking our attitude. Welcome to the bright side.
Before we jump ahead though, welcome! Welcome to the Ajaxxx.com 2019 Opinions Column. For those new to the site, this is where I talk about whatever’s going on within my mind. So, welcome! And for those returning, welcome back! Nowww, to the bright side.
Now before we start talking about rethinking our attitude, let me preface with I’m no doctor, nor do I claim to be one. I’m just talking about what’s worked for me. So, this isn’t medical advice. Ok, with that said, let’s talk about why we get down and what we can do about it. So, let’s pretend that you’re at work, doing your thing, and you get a negative email from your manager. Or, what if you’re driving on the road, and someone cuts you off? Orrr, what if you get into an argument with a friend that’s unjust? As you can see, there are many things that can affect us and weigh us down. In times like these, it’s healthy to rethink our perspective, as cliche as that sounds. Now, before you get turned off by the vagueness of it all, let me explain!
So ok Jaxxx, how exactly do you do that? It’s not easy. In fact, I’m not perfect and struggle with it all the time myself. But here are some things to keep in mind:
Remind yourself that it’s not going to last forever.
Remember, it’s not possible to move forward without obstacles.
Challenges build growth and will make you a better person.
Positivity attracts positivity.
By applying some of those principles, you may be able to help “looking to the bright side” while also maintaining your sanity. These have really helped me a great deal and picked me up.
Here’s to a positive mindset that will help us overcome these challenges!
What’s a story about how you overcame a challenge by looking to the bright side?
Until the next episode, y’all. Stay up, stay safe, and hold ya head. Ajaxxx signing out, PEACEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
