“So fresh and so clean, clean”
– Outkast on “So Fresh, So Clean“
Life can get messy, cluttered, and disorganized…if you let it. It’ll come at you fast and if you don’t have a system to manage it, it can really wear on you. Those things can really add up. So how do you handle it when you’ve got so much going on? Well, one of the ways is through organization. So yes, let’s talk about why it’s important and how organization is key.
Before we get ahead of ourselves though, welcome to the Ajaxxx.com Opinions Column! I’m superrrrr late on updating the site, so my apologies. I’ve been working on creating a website which has really taken a lot of my time. But, as we enter into the latter part of the year, I’m focusing more on music and balancing it all. But yes, if you’re new to the site, this is the place where I talk about whatever’s on my mind. And if you’re returning, welcome back! And with that said, let’s talk about organization and why it’s so important.
So if you don’t have a system to keep organized, especially if you’ve got a lot going on in your life, it can really raise stress levels. You won’t know where to find things, it’ll take longer to locate stuff, and your mind may constantly be racing (even when you’re not in work mode) because everything is everywhere. What’s worse, the problem will keep compounding itself until you take action to correct it. So my take? Don’t let it get too carried away. Create a system that works for you where you are organized and where things are easy to manage.
Another issue that may arise includes increased anxiety levels. If you have a lot of unfinished tasks, your mind can go krazy. Without a solid organization system, it’ll also drive you krazy to the point where your anxiety will go up. Now, maybe it’ll be manageable and you can handle it. But, if you let it get outta control, there’s a possibility that it’ll take a toll on your mental health over time. That’s not a good look. So again, it’s important to understand WHY it’s important – it’s for your health – and then take decisive action on how to address those concerns.
So how do you even get organized? Well, first thing is throw away stuff you don’t need. Think about minimalism and what that means to you. Ask yourself how important stuff is that you’re keeping. And if you don’t think you’ll need it, then trash it. Helpful hint: if it’s papers, make a digital copy of it, save it and store it, and then you may be able to get rid of the physical.
Another great idea is dedicate a time, either daily or weekly, where you just focus on organizing yourself. You can add a time in your calendar so you’re always reminding yourself to stay on top of it. Because as I mentioned previously, if you don’t have a handle around it, it has the potential to exponentially grow into a bigger problem.
And of course, try to have fun with it. Whether it’s listening to music while you get organized, come up with creative methods, or just use pictures/labels that express your personality, allow yourself to enjoy it. That’ll also make it an exciting project and will motivate you to wanna do it more.
Aight y’all, here’s to a productive rest of the year. Until the next one, stay up, stay safe, and hold ya head. Ajaxxx signing out, PEACEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
