“Don’t get impatient when it takes too long
Drink it all even when it tastes too strong”

– Drake on “Light Up

August. August oh August, how I needed you. In case you might’ve missed it, July was quite the dramatic month for me. Between work to family to females, it was “eventful” to say the least. So with August, things returned back to normal. I was finally able to breathe again and return to the swing of things. For once in my life, I welcomed normalcy. I was able to get back to music, to family, and to friends. I managed to take back control of my life and steer it where I wanna’ steer it. I got back to the calm.

Pardon the emo intro, but welcome to the Opinions Column. This is the spot where you can get into my head and find out what’s going on with me. If you’re a regular to the site, then you already know the deal. If you’re new, welcome…and hope I can continue to see you. So yes, let’s talk about the last few weeks.

Well as I mentioned above, I was able to get back to my “regular” life. Firstly, I opened my notebook and actually wrote. Yup, I really haven’t had a lot of time to focus on writing lately, but I became really inspired with some new and old beats I had and went to work. I wrote a double-time verse where I’m rapping really fast with the homey Oddeo, a back-in-the-day-style verse where I get extra lyrical with it, and also some introspective stuff too. Nothing eases my mind more than writing, I’m telling you. In addition to hitting the pen and pad, I also got back in the booth and put the almost-finishing touches to a new song for the Indian CD alongside longtime collaborator Monica Bassi. It’s coming out amazingly crazy (what a way to describe it, right?). I wish I could give you a preview, but it’s nowhere close to being done. But yeah, there’s a lot on the horizon!

Speaking of music, there’s a couple new tracks I can’t get enough of, including Drake’s “Headlines.” Below is also the new video for Bad Meets Evil’s “Lighters” featuring Bruno Mars. Both are great songs.

In addition to the music, I got back on a plane and did some traveling this month too. I went to North Carolina for a four-day event, which was nothing short of “interesting.” LoL. I’ll leave it at that, but it kinda’ reminded me of how old I am and where I need to be. Sometimes it takes events in your life to steer you back on track.

Funny story: on the plane ride, I was ridiculously tired and just wanted to knock out as soon as I sat down. Instead, there was a girl sitting next to me and all she wanted to do was talk and talk and talk. We definitely had interesting convo, but I was finding it really hard to keep my eyes open (even with the Starbucks). I tried to reverse-kick game (does that even make sense LoL), but to no avail. Anyway, blame it on the gift and the curse. LoL.

So, with August behind us (which I can’t believe by the way), September is here. Generally speaking, there are two “crazy” months for me – July and September. I’ve already got a preview of what September has to offer with a few event invites, so it’s starting to shape up already. That’s why I like August…because it gives me peace of mind LoL. So what can I expect for this upcoming month? I don’t know, but I do know I’m gonna be super back on my grind. Between recording and writing, gym’ing, doing my language lessons (and of course somehow time managing it all), I’ll be busy. And yes, I WILL knock out songs this month. It’ll be good. Can’t wait.

And with that, I gotta go get ready for the gym. See, I told you. I’m not playing. Anyway, thanks as always for reading the Opinions Column and taking a trip into my mind. Until next time…stay up, stay safe, and hold ya’ head! Ajaxxx signing out…Payyyyyyyce!
