You ever feel like you’re trying to go in one direction but life is pulling you in another? Like you’re trying to make moves but things keep getting in your way? Well, that’s how I’ve been feelin’ lately…especially this past month.
Whatup my peoples? Welcome to the Ajaxxx.com Opinions Column. I say this every month, but this is the place where you can climb deep within my brain tissues to dissect everything I’m thinking. Yum! For those that’re new to the site, welcome! And for those returning, welcome to you as well! And with that, let’s talk about April 2012.
So yes, April was crazy busy for me. So when I’m not rapping, I’m a graphic and web designer (as you might’ve guessed from the Design section above). So this past month, I’ve been SUPER tied up. I mean, like hostage tied up (haha don’t worry, I wasn’t kidnapped…just taking it to the extreme). I was out of town for a lot of the time. I spent a lot more time in the gym. And yes, I was mad busy every hour of the day that it was hard for me to make time for music. Sounds like an excuse, right? Well, let me clarify – I did make time for music. I wrote, I recorded, and I started work on some new songs too. What I’m tryna say is, I didn’t progress as far as I would’ve liked. And when you’re doing like 16 hour days (yes, really), it makes it mad difficult to make the moves you plan. Ah, life.
Hopefully May will be better. I already know I’ll be outta’ pocket for the next couple weeks. Somehow and someway though, I’m bent on making moves this upcoming month. My new CD is virtually done. I just need everything mixed now and I’ll continue to push that forward. In the meantime, I have to take on new projects and finalize songs with artists I’m collaborating with. I have a lot on my plate, and I can’t let up now.
What I’m starting to realize is that as you get older, time starts to disappear. I’m not sure where it goes or where it used to be, but I don’t even have a moment to be bored. There’s always something to do, someplace to go, or someone to please. It’s really crazy. And what I’m also starting to realize is that priorities shift, even when you don’t want them to. Things that you used to care about become insignificant and things you overlooked are now important. I need a vacation or something LoL.
What I HAVE learned though is that as long as you’re staying productive, good things manifest themselves. So here’s to good things ahead!
On the “what I’ve been listening to” front, there’s been lots of gooddd music to share. Like what, Ajaxxx? Check out some of my favs from this past month, including videos from Nas, Slaughterhouse, and Saigon.
And while we’re on the topic of dope music, I was watching this the other day. Definitely a classic by the Roots crew.
Soooo in closing, this month will see me get back in the booth hardcore. Gotta put some finishing touches on these tracks and drop ’em.
