“I’m getting bread while I toast to my accomplishments”
– Dr. Dre on 50 Cent’s “New Day

They say that life is all about changes. If that’s true, then they should also say that life is all about transitions because transitions accompany change. And while change is hard to embrace, transitions are perhaps more difficult. It’s the time when you’re like damn, where am I? It’s unfamiliar footing. And while it can be scary, it can also be exciting. And so, let’s “transition” into this month’s Opinions Column.

Whatup world? First of all, I can’t believe that I’m updating the Opinions Column on the last day of the month. These are supposed to get released at the beginning of each month so this is just krazy. I’m catching up on life so forgive me while I get back on track. But yes, for those that’re new to the site, this is the place where I talk about all that’s on my mind. For those that’re returning, welcome back! And with that said, let’s talk about transitions.

For me, these last few months have been all about transition. I’m trying to let go of old habits and embrace a new, improved me. However, it’s important that I don’t lose sight of who I am either. Just because I’m experiencing change in my life, it doesn’t mean that I need to change who I am to my friends and family. I have to grow, evolve, and become a better Ajaxxx while still staying true to my core. It’s an interesting juggling act.

I’m growing up and learning about patience, understanding, and getting things done. I’m figuring out how to make better use of time. And yes, I’m improving myself too. For those that don’t know, I recently got married so I’m experiencing one of the biggest transitions out there. It’s real.

So how do you do it? How do you transition into a new version of yourself while still maintaining who you were? I don’t know. I guess you need to make time for what’s important to you and constantly remind yourself of how you got there. Buy a dry erase board with goals on it. Put reminders in your phone to get you back on track. And if you have to, ask the people that surround you to help. It’s not easy but if it’s important to you, then you gotta do what you can.

With a new role and new responsibilities, I can’t lose sight of my goals. I still need to put out this music. I still have to work on my graphics, animation, and web design. And yes, I still need to keep it real to myself too. It’s fun, it’s rewarding, and it’s uncharted waters too. So I’m saying, here’s to an exciting new challenge in my life.

And while I’m learning about everything, I’d better “transition” up outta here. Haha. There’s a lot of work to catch up on so I gotta get to it. Until next month (or next week)…stay up, stay safe, and hold ya head. Ajaxxx signing out…PEACE!
