“Jealousy is just love and hate at the same time”
– Drake on “Over My Dead Body“
It’s really easy to get sidetracked and deterred by the opinions of others. From negative energy to spreading judgement, listening to other’s opinions and giving it too much attention can really weigh you down…especially when it’s not helpful. You know what you want and you know your passion, right? So why then do we give other’s the right to bring us down? We won’t. Let’s not give our energy to the negative things that people think.
What up y’all? What’s going on? Welcome to the Ajaxxx.com May 2019 Opinions Column. We’re almost halfway through the year, so definitely gotta start ramping it up. Anyway, for those that’re new to the site, welcome…this is the place where I talk about whatever’s going on in my mind. For those returning, welcome back! And with that, let’s talk about why it’s important to stop worrying about what other people think.
First of all, nobody knows you better than yourself. You know what drives you and what’s important to you. You know what you care about and what you’re passionate about. You’re in charge. So why then is it easy to let the judgement of others affect us, and even discourage us? It shouldn’t. Excuse my language, but who the fuck are they to tell you what you can and can’t do, why you’re doing something, or who you are as a person? They don’t know you. They don’t know your situation or your past or a lot of other stuff about you. In fact, it’s very likely they only know what’s on the surface and they have no idea how you feel or what you’ve been through. You’re our own person with your own struggles…therefore, there is no reason to worry about what they think.
Secondly, lots of time the people criticizing are those that aren’t doing it, or in no position to even pass judgement. I’ve seen it a lot, but the ones that spread the negative energy are often jealous, negative in general (towards everyone), or just your average troll craving attention. Remind yourself that these people don’t know your past, your ceiling, nothing. They don’t understand your hardships nor do they know about your feelings. And most of the time, they’re generally unaware of the broad picture so they don’t even have a place to talk. Again, there is no reason to worry about what they think.
And sometimes, it might just come from a place of ignorance. People might not know any better and say stupid things. Pay them no mind and keep moving. You don’t have time to entertain that and it’s not worth your energy. I mean, if you want to educate them that’s fine, but don’t feed into it. It’s not worth it a lot of the time. You’ve got a lot on your plate as it is.
In the end, you’ll realize that people often say things that can really have a resounding negative impact…if you let it. However (and I know it can be challenging), if you can remind yourself not to worry about what they think…and that they don’t know what they’re talking about…you will already be in a better place. So focus on yourself, not the others, and you’ll be in good shape.
Aight y’all, just needed to get that off my chest. Hope that helped you like it helped me. I’m out for now cuz it’s late and I got a busy day ahead of me tomorrow. Stay up, stay safe, and hold ya head. Ajaxxx signing out, PEACEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
