“But I been talking to God for so long
And if you look at my life I guess he’s talking back”
– Kanye West on “Clique“
They say patience is a virtue. They also say that good things come to those who wait. Despite all that, I’m impatient as hell. Perhaps it’s something I need to work on? Or maybe I’m just eager to make these moves. I dunno, but I’ve been thinkin’ about it a lot lately…
What’s up my peoples? How you livin’? Welcome to the Ajaxxx.com Opinions Column, the sole spot on planet earth where you can find out wsup with me. I like to talk lots of trash on here, so get ready haha. If you’re new to the site, welcome and thanks for visiting (hope I’ll continue to see you). And if you’ve returned, welcome back! And with the formalities behind us, let’s talk about Septemberrr.
So September really taught me a lot about patience. If you read last month’s Opinions Column, I talked about how I’d be dropping the new single AND video. Well, October’s here and I have yet to drop anything. You must be wondering what happened, right? Well, several things happened. It seems like the obstacles were out in full effect, which is nothing ununsual for me. So firstly, the mixing/mastering process took a little longer than expected. I’ll take responsibility for that (I’m picky, what can I say?). Afterwards, I reached out to a few different video directors…who I’m still waiting to hear back from. Now I could just jump ship, but I know the quality is willing to wait for. And so, I’m left waiting.
And so that brings me to a question: How patient am I? I won’t wait much longer before I pivot to another direction but how long will that be? Nothing against anyone, but I gotta make moves and I’m not getting any younger. If I hear back, great…if not, I gotta keep it movin’ and maybe I can re-link with them in the future. My main thing is moving forward….or in other words, being impatient. Tricky stuff.
The good news is I do have another song that I’ll be dropping over the next few days. The song is 100% done! It’s called “Nightmares” and features the vocals of The Rebel with production from Arpit G. It’s an up-tempo track with a smooth vibe. Think you’ll like it!
Elsewhere in September, there were some additional chaotic experiences that occurred. So firstly, I got into a car accident. Yup, someone hit me pretty bad on the side of my car. I was without my car for a little bit, but everything has returned to normal. The main thing is that I’m okay and that I’m still in one piece. I was just writing last month about how I gotta keep goin’ despite the setbacks, which helped me get through this. Patience Ajaxxx, patience.
The other theme of September was my teeth. LoL I was having an insane amount of pain in my teeth. I felt like I was living at the dentist for sometime there. Between having a crown fall out, a root canal, and a lot more, there was a whole lot of pain all in the span of 30 days. And if you’ve seen my teeth, I do a really good job maintaining. It wasn’t easy to get through everything, but I’m slowly returning back to normal now. I guess that also lends itself to the title, right? Gotta have patience.
Shifting away from the craziness for justtt a second, I must give my reviews on two new hip hop albums that dropped this past month from Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music.
Kanye West / G.O.O.D. Music – Cruel Summer
So Kanye is back in full effect with the whole crew on “Cruel Summer.” What can I say about this one? I think it’s really good. Kanye seldom disappoints with albums, so I knew I could expect a dope release. Outside of Kanye’s cockier-than-ever flow (sigh), the only drawback I would say is that I had heard the majority of the songs well in advance. Songs like “Cold”, “Mercy”, and “Clique” have all been circulating for awhile. So at a not-so-lengthy 12 tracks, there wasn’t a lot of new material on here. Nevertheless, it’s still a solid release from start to finish with a lot of quality music. I was hoping for more of a “College Dropout” Kanye for this release, but this’ll work too.
Lupe Fiasco – Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1
Lupe’s also back with his newest release. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to think…I heard a bunch of songs prior to this release and they all weighed differently with me. Although “Bitch Bad” was a great conceptual song, I still needed to hear more. Well, I finally peeped the CD and it’s…alright. Although there are some gems, there are a bunch of political tracks that didn’t really do it for me. Lupe really lost me with all his political talk after 1) him saying he doesn’t vote and 2) him not being able to hang with Bill O’Reilly. In any case, F&L2 it’s not a BAD album…it’s actually pretty good. But compared to some of his earlier releases, this left me wanting more…
And with that, I must be out. Plans for October? I’m going to drop a new song this month and hopefully the single for “One of a Kind” follows! Okay folks, I’m outta here…stay up, stay safe, and hold ya’ head…Ajaxxx signing’ out, PEACEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
