“My life’s like a soundtrack I wrote to the beat
when I was close to defeat, I rose to my feet”
– Dr. Dre on “Still D.R.E.” feat. Snoop Dogg
After being computer-less for like two months, I’m FINALLY back. After weeks and weeks of postponing, rescheduling, and delaying, I’m finally able to return to 100% productivity. And after almost losing my mind, I return to full form. That’s right, my computer is finally back and now I can get back to normal.
Whatup my peoples? Welcome one and all to the March 2013 Ajaxxx.com Opinions Column. This is the place where you can find out what’s been going on with me, from music to design to just about anything else. For those that’re new to the site, thanks for checking in…and welcome. For those that’re returning, welcome back. And with that said, let’s talk about the adventure that I can finally put behind me.
So I talked about this last month, but I’ll talk about it again (just ’cause it’s fresh in my mind). My comp died on me in January, and I have no idea what happened. I tried to fix it and got some friends to help too (along with a professional for help), and nothing worked. I thought I lost ALL my files (so that includes my graphics, recordings, new album, etc.). Obviously I was in panic mode. Anyway, with some help I was able to FINALLY get it working again. I was on the phone for like six hours yesterday troubleshooting mad stuff. It really shouldn’t have been so difficult, and I blame Microsoft’s disorganized ass website too. But yeah, it feels amazing to FINALLY be back!
I will say tho, despite not having my PC I was still able to be somewhat productive with my backup laptop. I don’t have all my files and programs on there (so it’s kinda hard to do everything), but I realized I can’t be 100% stagnant. So, I got some new beats and wrote some new music. I think I finally got the final two songs for my upcoming album “Something to Prove” which is super exciting. I can see the finish line.
So with my computer back, I can return to grizzle mode! If you can’t tell, I’m super excited. I can’t stand being unproductive and it kills me. So, what’s on my plate?
1) Release “He’s a Monster!” Mixtape – So I was supposed to release my fourth mixtape in January, and because of the computer drama it’s been delayed. With the comp back (AND my music back), I can finally release the CD that I was supposed to two months ago. I still have some finishing touches to make on it, but it’s virtually done. So yeah, I’d say another week and we’ll be good to go. Can’t wait!
2) Record record record – I’m taking the booth apart this month (just temporarily, don’t worry) so I’ve got a lot of recording I gotta do this upcoming month. My goal is to record anything pending for my upcoming album and then take it down. So I gotta get on extra grizzle mode in order for that to happen. Good luck to me!
3) Tackle new websites – I’ve got a ton of new requests to do websites, and I haven’t been able to get to them until now. One of my goals for 2013 was to take on new projects and that was hindered. Anyway, I’m back and ready to go.
4) Take on new graphic designs – I’ve also got a bunch of new work regarding flyers and other graphics, so the timing couldn’t be better (actually two months ago would’ve been better LoL). Anyway, that’s something else I told myself I’d get more involved in this year and now I’m doing it.
5) Language lessons – So before my computer died on me, I was taking language lessons. I feel like I really hit a roadblock there, especially with the traveling I did last year as well. The only thing that really got me back on track was my planner that I bought (LoL don’t ask). But yeah, I can finally get back to this and continue to better myself.
I’ve got some other stuff on my plate as well , but don’t wanna get ahead of myself. One thing at a time, right?
Moving on to some new music I’ve been peeping, February has been a good month for hiphop. Check out some dope albums in rotation.
Joe Budden – “No Love Lost” – Joe Budden goes the “mainstream” route on this one, enlisting some A-listers to help the album. With features from Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Fabolous, and more, “No Love Lost” is a dope album from the Jersey emcee that touches on a host of different topics. From deep love tracks to straight hip hop bangers, the album takes you a lot of different places. Joey has been on a streak with great music, and this is no exception. Definitely worth peeping.
J. Cole – “Truly Yours” – Cole can just do no wrong. Although “Truly Yours” is just a 5-song EP, each of the songs are album-worthy…and they’re all dope. He’s got so much to say, and his songs really get you to think. He continues to impress me, and I knew I’d like the EP even before I heard it. Touching on topics like his stepfather, the grind, and females, he makes music that people can really relate to. This is gonna be on repeat throughout March too LoL. Great music indeed…check that out.
Anyway, that’ll do it for me. So what’s March got in store? Well, lots of changes are happening this month. When you talk about rite of passages, this month is gonna be real. I should have more to talk ’bout in next month’s Opinions Column. Also look for the new mixtape droppin’ THIS month (finally!). It’s gonna be a krazy month.
Stay up, stay safe, and hold ya’ head. Ajaxxx signin’ out…PEACEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good luck :) hope it all goes well!x
