“Cause when I look back at a fly young cat
Who could rap with a dream, look where I took that”

There are certain significant moments in your life that you define as rites of passages. Whether it’s getting your driver’s license, graduating, or getting married, there are certain defining moments that you’ll probably remember forever. This past month, I experienced one of them. This past month, I experienced a new beginning.
Whatup my peoples? Welcome to the place to be, the April 2013 Ajaxxx.com Opinions Column. I know, I know, I’m a few days late, but I can explain. Before all that though, welcome! For those that’re new to the site, this is the place where I talk about anything and everything goin’ on in my life (and there’s a lot this time around). For those that’re returning to the site, welcome back…you already know the drills. With that said, let me talk about this new beginning of mine.
So this past month was a crazy one. After searching for like two years, I finally moved out of the house I grew up in. It was surreal to say the least, and it’s still hard to believe I’m not where I was. I mean, I know that everyone moves and it isn’t unusual, but I’ve experienced A LOT of memories in that old house. Throughout the last few days, nostalgia really hit me. I visited the house for one of the final times and walked through what felt like a ghost town. Nothing was where it was, and my home became a shell of its former self. It was hard to digest, but I had to come to terms with it. While half of me was sad to leave, the other half of me was really excited for a new beginning. I was tired of passing by my old school or waiting for the wack ass crossing guard. I lived it up there, but I definitely felt like it was time to move on.
So as I closed one chapter behind me, I’m forced to embrace a new one. And so far, it’s been a little bumpy lol. For one, I still don’t have cable or internet in the new crib. So when I said I was a few days late earlier, that’s why. I’m actually sitting in Panera right now writing this because I needed some free wi-fi. Shouts to Panera! Haha. So yeah, I’m still in unpacking mode and getting everything organized. I’m also using this time to throw away a lot of old stuff. I’ve been throwing out a lot of old stuff from old girlfriends, and while it’s a little hard to let go…it feels even better to get rid of the old and *ehem* embrace a new beginning.
So in addition to the new house, there have been some other monumental things going on. For one, I dropped my new mixtape! After taking like a four-year hiatus (which wasn’t really a hiatus because I was still actively recording and releasing music), I’ve put out my new solo CD. Yup, “He’s a Monster!” is finally out for the world to hear. So far reviews have been great, which I’m really happy about. The CD was nothing short of krazy to get done, but I’m really glad I was able to do it. I put a lot of hard work into this. If you still haven’t downloaded the 20-track CD, just sign up for my mailing list HERE and it’ll automatically get sent to you.
What else? Welllllll, after taking far too long, I’m finally going to be shooting my new music video too. That’s right, next week I’m leaving to NY and NJ to shoot my video for “One of a Kind”, my upcoming single. I have a lot of exciting things planned for this single starting this upcoming week, and I’m really looking forward to sharing them with everyone. This song took me a really long time to get completed, and I worked with like 4-5 different engineers to get it the way I wanted. It was a long road, but we finally made it…and this month, “One of a Kind” will be available for download. Can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If that isnt enough stuff going on, I’m also going to Tampa in a couple of weeks for a performance. I’ll be performing at the Tampa Bay International Curry Festival, where I’ll be performing “One of a Kind” along with some other new material. Check out the link HERE for more info. And if you’re in Tampa, I’d love to see you out there!
So yeah, between the moving, new mixtape, new single and video, and upcoming performance, there’s a LOT going on in my life right now. How am I juggling it all? I have absolutely no clue…but I’m trying my best.
All in all, I can’t help but be grateful for all that I’ve been blessed with. The road hasn’t always been easy. No…the road has been very difficult. I’ve lost friends along the way, faced insurmountable obstacles, and really felt a sense of discouragement time and time again. However, I persisted. Whether it was my computer dying, losing feeling in my hand, or falling out with partners, I somehow managed to keep focused. And I mean, it’s not like I’m done either…I still have a ton of work ahead of me. But you know what? Like I mentioned at the top, I feel like this is the start of a new beginning. And I’m saying, I’m ready to embrace it.
That’ll do it for me ladies and gentlemen. I need to get up outta Panera cuz I’ve been here for far too long lol. As always, thanks for your support and for reading this. Hope you’re ready for a super eventful April and May! New song, new video, and lots more surprises are on the way! Stay up, stay safe, and hold ya’ head…Ajaxxx signin’ out, peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[…] perhaps one of the biggest things (which leaks over from last month)…I moved. Although the actual moving date was last month, it all trickled over into April. […]
